2015 Summer Reading Program
is a wonderful time to relax with a good book -- or several good books!
Summer reading supports and builds on lessons of the previous school
year and prepares students for success in the year ahead.
Albany High School students
Summer reading is required for high school students, who have to read at
least one suggested book and complete a writing project that will be
graded. Albany High School English teachers held book talks with
students during May and June, and you can
visit the Albany High Summer Reading site for complete information.
For elementary and middle-school students, the City School District of
Albany ELA team is excited to announce that we are partnering with
Albany Public Library this summer! Please
read on to learn more.

Albany Public Library Reading Program encourages students to read
whatever books they like. They are rewarded for their efforts with small
prizes and lots of praise from Youth Services librarians!
The librarians will be talking to kids about the books they’re
reading for the summer and helping them find the next great book that
will get them excited about reading.
Albany Public Library Reading Program takes place from June 27-Aug. 22.
Albany Public Library librarians visited all K-7 classrooms
across the school district in the spring.
The librarians introduced this program and gave book talks on new
literature for kids and teens.
