A. Alfred, M.D.
Albany High School ‘73
Dr. Richard Alfred tends to the injuries of athletes, including those
from his alma matter.
A board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine at
Capital Region Orthopaedics, Alfred is the training camp physician for
the New York Giants, associate team physician for the Tri-City Valley
Cats and the University at Albany, team physician for RPI, The Sage
Colleges and Hudson Valley Community College, and the trauma physician
for Saratoga Race Course. He is also the team physician for Albany High.
In addition, Alfred is a clinical associate professor at Albany Medical
College and a clinical instructor at RPI. He was a 2010 recipient of the
Albany High Distinguished Alumni Award and a 2009 recipient of the 1953
Award for Distinguished Service to Hudson Valley Community College by a
Non-Alumnus.
After graduating from Albany High, Alfred went on to graduate from
Harvard University and Albany Medical College.
