A proposition to sell the district's Buildings and Grounds
headquarters
|
Proposition #2
Shall the Board of Education of the City School
District of Albany be authorized to sell the real property
located at 270-272 Central Avenue, Albany, N.Y., for a selling
price not less than $100,000.

When voters visit the polls Tuesday, May 17 to decide on the City School
District of Albany's $206.5 million budget proposal for 2011-12, a
separate resolution on the ballot (Proposition #2, see box at right)
will ask them to authorize the district to sell the building at
270-272 Central Ave., home to the district's Buildings and Grounds
staff, for at least $100,000.
The staff and all equipment are relocating to the former Harriet
Gibbons High School (now Central Registration) at 75 Watervliet Ave.
There will be two more propositions on the May 17 ballot related to the
school district:
-
Proposition #3 will ask the public to authorize the sale of the
former Philip Livingston Magnet Academy for not less than $3.25
million. Voters overwhelmingly approved the sale of the building in
2010 for not less than $4.5 million. However,
due to market conditions it is necessary to lower the minimum
selling price.
Proposition #4 will ask voters to approve a
no-cost facilities project to improve Giffen Memorial Elementary School,
Abrookin Vocational-Technical Center and Albany High School. The
full cost of the $11.4 million project would be covered by state
building aid -- regular building aid and EXCEL building aid. All
work would be done at no cost to taxpayers.
