Albany High School students see the Seine
on European tour
A group of Albany High students visited Europe from Feb 16th to Feb
23rd. Our Latin students learned how wealthy Romans lived 2,000 years
ago on an excursion to Pompeii, one of the richest archeological sites
in the world. Students enjoyed a guided visit to the Vatican City and
the Sistine Chapel where Michelangelo painted some of the world's finest
pictorial images on the chapel's ceiling. They walked the grassy ruins
of the ancient Forum Romanum, once the heart of the Roman Empire and
visited the mighty Colosseum. In Florence: birthplace of Italian
language, the Renaissance, and opera, our students saw the David and
walked on the Ponte Vecchio (one of the cities only bridges to survive
World War II). After enjoying couchette accommodations aboard an
overnight train bound for elegant Paris, our French students were
greeted by the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, and the Louvre museum. We
concluded our tour with a narrated cruise on the River Seine.
