Board adopts
revised timeline for relocation and construction of School 19
At the May 2 meeting of the Board of Education,
the board unanimously approved a timeline for when School 19 will be
relocated to swing space and when renovations will begin at the
school. The resolution stated that School 19 will be vacated after
June 2007, construction will begin in July 2007, and it is
anticipated that the newly renovated school will be occupied in
January 2009. (Previously, the plan called for the school to be
vacated after December 2006, and ready for occupancy in September
2008. However, that plan also called for School 19 and William S.
Hackett Middle School to share the Philip Schuyler Elementary School
building while they were both under renovations, a situation that
would have presented space constraints. The revised plan for School
19 that the the board adopted on May 2 will allow time for a
suitable alternative swing space to be developed). More details will
be provided as they become available.
