New entry procedures for Albany High School students

A letter from Interim Principal Maxine Fantroy-Ford to parents

Beginning October 16, 2006 students can expect new security procedures to be in effect when they enter the building. The district is appreciative of their cooperation. We know that Albany High School students are respectful and cooperative. It is important that the following procedures, which have also been outlined on a 3 X 5 card given for students, are followed:

  • Students with a first period class scheduled for 8 a.m. can begin entering the building at 7:15 a.m.

  • Students who take CDTA Tripper buses that drop them on the North Main Street side of the building, students arriving late, and those arriving from Abrookin or re-entering the building during the school day will enter through the Tower 6 courtyard entrance.

  • All other students will enter the building through the Washington Avenue Physical Education entrance near the swimming pool. This includes students who ride the bus from Abrookin to attend class or lunch at the high school.

  • Before entering the building, students should unzip all compartments of their bags (bookbags, purses, briefcases, notebooks, storage pouches, etc.).

  • Students should place all metal objects such as coins, keys, cell phones and ipods from their pockets and bags in a see-through plastic bag.

  • Upon entering the building, students must follow instructions from staff.
