The
City School District of Albany joins the nation in saluting the
Tuskeegee Airmen, an elite corps of African American fighter pilots who
helped the Allied Forces achieve victory in World War II. The Tuskeege
Airmen were honored by President George W. Bush and Congress yesterday
for their heroism, sacrifices and bravery. Among the Tuskeegee Airmen
who were in attendance for the ceremony was Saratoga resident Clarence
Dart, whose daughter, Dawn Ray is a speech teacher at Arbor Hill
Elementary School. The school district community is encouraged to learn
more about these legendary pilots, and information is available in
Times-Union articles from
Thursday
and
Friday
of this week and from your school and local public libraries.
