Registering your child for school is as
easy as ABC
The City School District of Albany wants
to make the school registration process as easy as possible for busy parents. We
understand that it can be confusing trying to figure out which of the
district's schools your child will
attend.
To alleviate
some of the confusion and help parents get all the information they
need, and to assist in completing all the proper forms, the
district operates a Central Registration Office where everything parents
need is under one roof.
Parents of elementary,
middle and high school children should go to
Central Registration to enroll their children in school. The office is
located at 75 Watervliet Ave.,
off of
Central Avenue near Westgate Plaza in the former Harriet Gibbons High
School building.
You can call Central Registration for
additional information at (518) 475-6125, and
check out the Required Documents section
to find out what you will need to register your child for school.
School attendance zones
All students must be registered at Central Registration, but before you
go you can search our list of school attendance zones to find out which
elementary and middle school your child will attend based on where you
live. To search for your school,
the list of attendance zones and use "Ctrl-F" to search for
your street name (e.g., First Street or Zoar Avenue).
Please note that the list does not include the district's three magnet
elementary schools, which are enrolled each spring via lottery. Call the
Magnet Schools Office for more information at (518) 475-6551.
Hours of Operation are from 8:30 a.m. to
4 p.m.
If you are unable to visit Central
Registration during the hours of operation, exceptions can be made.
Please call (518) 475-6125 to make an appointment.
Helping you save time
Please use the navigational bar on the top
right side of this page to learn more about what you must bring with you
when you visit Central Registration. As an additional time saver we've
posted online copies of the required registration forms. You can
download the forms so you can complete them ahead of time and bring
them with you to Central Registration.
