About Abrookin
Vocational education has a long, successful history in the City School District of Albany, going back to at least 1914. Abrookin Vo-Tech Center opened at its current location on Kent Street in 1974, and today serves high school students, students with special needs, adults, out-of-school youth, alternative educational students and GED students.

Abrookin offers:

• Career education for students in grades 9-12.

• Specialized programs in culinary arts, technology education, cosmetology, technical arts, life skills, and many other fields.

• An extended-day program that has become one of the district's most successful alternative education programs.

• Career Explorations in education, health care, finance, law, and engineering.

• A cutting-edge Career Academy that provides a valuable, high-tech education for students looking for a different high-school experience.

School times

• Breakfast begins at 7:20 a.m.

• Classes begin at 7:50 a.m.

• Dismissal is at 2:50 p.m.

Absence from school
If your child is absent from school for any reason, call the school nurse at 462-7278 during the morning and provide a written excuse when your child returns to school.
