  • Nanotech moves to the head of the class -- Check out the Dec. 11 Times Union article about nanoscience programs at a few Capital Region high schools. The article features Albany High School's pioneering role in nanoscience education in partnership with the University at Albany's College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering. Senior Jahseim Dobbs and science teacher Dan McCarthy are featured in the article.

  • Albany High among state leaders in AP exams -- Not many schools in New York state top Albany High School when it comes to providing opportunities for students to challenge themselves academically by taking Advanced Placement courses. According to College Board, Albany High ranks in the top 6 percent of the class in New York state when it comes to the number of students taking AP exams. (MORE)

  • CDTA bus transportation update -- This year, CDTA swiper cards will be accepted on all CDTA buses Monday through Friday. Service will be available from the time CDTA begins running routes in the morning, and to allow students more flexibility in after-school transportation. Please note that this allows all students with CDTA swiper cards to ride any regular line bus or any tripper bus in the mornings and afternoons. Students are encouraged to take CDTA tripper buses to and from school. For students whose schedules do not fit with the tripper buses, then any regular line bus is available. For tripper bus schedules or CDTA contact information, students should visit their house office or www.cdta.org.

  • Second makeup day scheduled in March -- Friday, March 27 will be the second of two makeup days at Albany High School and Abrookin Vocational-Technical Center due to the delay in starting the 2008-09 school year. More information about this makeup day will be available at a later date.
