for parent and community groups to meet. Some other

News and information
Making change a penny at a a time
-- Delaware Community School students showed their
community support June 3 when they presented a total of
$900 to two local charities -- Regional Food Bank of
Northeastern New York and Peppertree Rescue. The good
works were part of the school's annual "Penny Harvest,"
a school-wide drive to collect extra change to donate to
worthy causes. Besides gathering change, the effort
includes research, interviews and phone calls to various
charities then group discussions on which groups will
receive the funds. "The Penny Harvest program has taught
our students the importance of giving back to our
community and it has put the important decision-making
process in the hands of our students," said teacher
Stacey Spilman.
