About Sheridan Preparatory Academy
The newly constructed Sheridan Preparatory Academy opened its doors in September 2004 and serves about 350 students in prekindergarten through grades 5. Many of the school's students originally attended the former Philip Schuyler Elementary School on Western Avenue, in a building that served 900 students in grades K-6.

Sheridan Preparatory Academy was part of the City School District of Albany's comprehensive facilities plan to create smaller, more personal learning spaces where students have the technology necessary to succeed. With the construction of Sheridan Preparatory Academy and Schuyler Achievement Academy, students of the former Philip Schuyler now attend brand new, spacious state-of-the-art small schools.

We are proud to be able to provide a range of programs and services to take care of our children's academic needs as well as provide health and wellness services on-site. These services include
mobile dental health services through our partnership with the St. Peter's Hospital and Ronald McDonald House.
