Hughes, Harris help Falcons return to the
postseason
The wait is over for Albany High School’s baseball team. Michael Hughes
and Justin Harris made sure of that Wednesday night.
Michael struck out 14 and allowed just three hits and one unearned run
in 5 2/3 innings and Justin drove in three runs to lead the Falcons to a
4-1 win over Bishop Maginn at Bleecker Stadium. It was Albany’s eighth
Big 10 victory of the season, guaranteeing the Falcons (9-5 overall, 8-2
Big 10) their first trip to the Section II playoffs since 1999.
While Michael shackled Maginn’s offense, Harris delivered an RBI single
in the first and a two-run double in the fifth. Jevonte Osterhout added
an RBI single in the three-run fifth as the Falcons snapped a 1-1 tie.
Steven Hotaling got the final four outs, two on strikeouts, to earn the
save.
