Director's Memo: Sports are a time commitment
Updated for the
spring
2013 sports season
Some food for thought as we
participate in spring sports …
Sports are a time commitment.
If you are participating in a
varsity,
junior varsity or modified (grades 7-8) sport, please keep in mind that you are making a
commitment to your team and that sport. To be fair, each player must
make the commitment to be present at each practice and contest
throughout the season before tryouts begin. This weighs heavily on the
decisions made by coaches when they determine their rosters.
A schedule
is given at the beginning of each team’s season and also is available
before tryouts upon request.
The spring
sports season begins with practice in March for all teams. The
season will extend into May and possibly early June,
with seasons varying in length depending
on how successful individuals and teams are and whether they are
involved in playoff games or advance in the Section II or state
tournaments.
Teams and individual
athletes perform better when everyone is involved. Please consider
your sports schedule when planning vacations and other non-school-related activities!
