The City School District of Albany
practices Integrated Pest Management (IPM), which is a process for
managing, preventing and suppressing pests with minimal impact on
human health and the environment. The district hires outside
contractors for pest control who are required to follow IPM
procedures.
IPM is most successful when teachers,
students, employees and the contractor work together. Pesticides are only used as a last
resort. Schools are required to maintain a list of parents, guardians
and staff who want to receive advance notice from the district if
pesticides are used.
