Middle School Enrollment

Neighborhood Schools & Attendance Zones
Every Albany student has a neighborhood school where he or she is automatically enrolled. A child's neighborhood school is determined by his or her geographic residence.

Unless students choose to participate in the middle school lottery and are selected to attend Myers Middle School, students at the list of elementary schools below (and those attending schools outside of current elementary attendance zones) are automatically enrolled at either Philip Livingston Magnet Academy or William S. Hackett Middle School.

For example, Hackett Middle School is the neighborhood school for students attending:

  • Public School 18

  • Public School 19

  • Giffen Memorial Elementary School

For example, Philip Livingston Magnet Academy is the neighborhood school for students attending:

  • Sheridan Preparatory Academy

  • Schuyler Achievement Academy

  • Arbor Hill Elementary School

Please note: students at Public School 16, Eagle Point Elementary School, Montessori Magnet School, Thomas O'Brien Academy of Science & Technology, and the Albany School of Humanities are enrolled at either Hackett OR Philip Livingston, depending on their home address.

Every student in Albany is also eligible to participate in the middle school lottery in order to attend the Stephen & Harriet Myers Middle School. However, they are always automatically enrolled in their neighborhood middle school.

For more information, please contact your child's school or the Office of Instruction at 475-6015.
