Continuing Education

Adult Evening Education Program

To encourage people to become lifelong learners, the City School District of Albany offers the community a variety of continuing education courses in the fall, winter and spring.

Are you interested in teaching a continuing education class?
We are always looking for new class ideas. If you have an idea for a class you would like to teach, please contact the Adult Evening Education Program at 454-3987, ext. 0982.

Who can register for continuing education classes?
Any person over the age of 18 is eligible to attend classes. Registration must be done in person at Albany High School, 700 Washington Ave., on the following dates:

Full payment for classes is required at registration. Cash and check payments are acceptable.

For more information during the day, please contact the Adult Learning Center at 462-7292. During the early evening hours on Wednesday and Thursdays only, please call 454-3987, ext. 0982.

When are classes offered?
Classes are offered on Wednesday and Thursday evenings.

Fall classes run from September to December, winter classes run from December to March, and spring classes run from March to May.

Fees/ Refunds
Individual course prices are listed with course descriptions since prices typically vary. Refunds will be made only when a class has been canceled due to insufficient registration. Sorry, no refunds are made after the meeting of the first class.

Senior Citizens
Senior citizens (age 60 and above) will receive a 10% discount on all courses.

Enrollment
The classes listed can be given only if a sufficient number of adults sing up for a specific class. You may want to encourage others to register for the same course.

At the time of registration, the staff is willing to note other choices should your registered class be canceled. At least 12 people should register for a course before it can be guaranteed. Exceptions to this rule my be made at the discretion of the program's coordinator.

Room locations
Room locations will be posted in the high school entrance on the first night of class.

Materials and Books
Where courses require special supplies, text, or materials students must supply or purchase them. Instructors may in some cases make purchases for students if students so desire.

Inclement weather/School closings
If day classes are canceled because of weather or other reasons, the evening classes also will be canceled. School cancellations are broadcast on local TV and radio stations.

Rule and Regulations
Continuing education participants are required to abide by the regulations governing the school buildings. Smoking is prohibited in the building and on school grounds. The district is not responsible for any injuries incurred during the activities through the continuing education program. Any ensuing expenses will be borne by the participant.
