Middle School
afterschool activities
A variety of afterschool programs are available to
middle school students at each of the districts four middle
schools. Click on the following schools to view the program
choices.
Extended-day
programs exist at all of Albany City School District's elementary and
middle schools. Albany High School also offers an array of clubs and
activities beyond the normal school day. These programs not only offer
working parents an opportunity for child care, but they also provide
students with extended learning and enrichment activities that
contribute to a well-rounded educational experience.
The elementary and middle school programs typically start at dismissal
time and end around 6 p.m. They include homework
time and academic assistance, enrichment clubs, outdoor play (weather
permitting), games and arts & crafts. Character
development also is a focus in all of our extended-day programs.
The district has obtained outside funding through various sources, such
as the 21st Century Community Learning Centers
grant. Through such grants the school district continues to forge partnerships with various community agencies,
including:
-
Albany City Council PTA
-
Capital District YMCA
