The New York State Education Department’s
Office of Vocational and Educational Services for Individuals with
Disabilities (VESID) has notified the City School District of Albany has
been identified for significant discrepancy in the long-term suspensions
of disabilities by race during the 2006-07 school year.
As a result, the district is required to
conduct a self-review of its policies, practices and procedures. This
will involve a review of school records of students with disabilities
conducted by representatives of the school district. The district is
required to develop an action plan for improvement.
