City School District of Albany celebrates

Music in Our Schools Month

ALBANY, N.Y. (March 4, 2008) -- The City School District of Albany's Music Department invites you and your family to take part in our own March Madness with the Music in Our Schools Month Concert Series.

The schedule of performances begins with the All-City String Concert at Philip Livingston Magnet Academy on March 12 and concludes April 9 with the All-City Elementary Art Exhibit and Concert at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center.

  • Wednesday, March 12 -- All-City String Concert, Philip Livingston Magnet Academy, 7 p.m.

  • Thursday, March 13 -- Albany High School Band Concert, Empire State Plaza Convention Center, 12:20 p.m.

  • Tuesday, March 18 -- All-City Band Concert, Myers Middle School, 7 p.m.

  • Wednesday, March 26 -- All-City Chorus Concert, Albany High School, 7 p.m.

  • Wednesday, April 9 -- All-City Elementary Art Exhibit and Concert, Empire State Plaza Convention Center, art exhibit 6 p.m., concert 7:15 p.m.

The City School District of Albany serves approximately 9,000 students in 18 elementary and middle and high schools. The district includes several magnet schools and programs, as well as other innovative academic opportunities for students in addition to neighborhood schools. The district is more than halfway through its comprehensive facilities project to newly build and/or renovate nearly all of its elementary and middle schools. The ultimate goal of the facilities project is to provide schools with the resources necessary to help students succeed in the 21st century.
