ALBANY, N.Y. (April
23, 2008)
-- The award-winning Albany High School Theatre Ensemble will present
the musical Pippin, a compelling story about coming to terms with
everyday life, from May 1-4 in the Albany High theater.
Based on the book by Roger O. Hirson with music and lyrics by Stephen
Schwartz, Pippin is loosely constructed on historical accounts of
the son of Charlemagne the Great. Bursting with youthful idealism,
Pippin is determined to break free from his father's imposing shadow and
find fame and fortune of his own. What he discovers in this magical
adventure is not quite what he planned for. His journey ultimately
brings him back to a deeper understanding of the power of family.
Performances will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 1 through Saturday, May 3.
The performance Sunday, May 4 is at 2 p.m. General admission tickets are
$10 and $5 for students and senior citizens.

full Pippin playbill and the Theatre Ensemble's
2007-08 brochure also are available in .pdf format.
The City School
District of Albany serves approximately 8,600 students in 18
elementary, middle and high schools. The district includes several
magnet schools and programs, as well as other innovative academic
opportunities for students in addition to neighborhood schools. The
district is more than halfway through its comprehensive facilities
project to newly build and/or renovate nearly all of its elementary
and middle schools. The ultimate goal of the facilities project is
to provide schools with the resources necessary to help students
succeed in the 21st century. |
