KIPP, one of eight charter
schools operating in Albany this year, is proposing to amend its charter
to decrease enrollment from 270 to 226 in the current school year, and
from 360 to 300 next school year. KIPP serves students in grades 5-6 and

facilitator of the public hearing at the time of the public hearing. No
comments, written or otherwise, shall be considered or accepted after
the public hearing is closed. Speakers will be permitted three minutes
for comments.
The City School
District of Albany serves approximately 8,600 students in 18
elementary, middle and high schools. In addition to neighborhood
schools, the district includes several
magnet schools and programs, as well as other innovative academic
opportunities for students. The
district is more than halfway through its comprehensive facilities
project to newly build and/or renovate nearly all of its elementary
and middle schools. The ultimate goal of the facilities project is
to provide schools with the resources necessary to help students
succeed in the 21st century. |
