New weekly procedures for gym lockers at Albany High

will help improve health and safety

ALBANY, N.Y. (November 17, 2009) -- In an ongoing effort to keep Albany High School healthy and safe, all students are being asked to empty their gym lockers every Friday afternoon beginning Nov. 20. This will allow the high school's custodial staff to properly clean the locker rooms every weekend.

Any items that are left in gym lockers on Friday afternoon will be discarded. This includes sneakers. The City School District of Albany and the custodial staff will not be responsible for any items left in gym lockers on Friday afternoons.

Physical education teachers will remind students of this rule during Thursday and Friday physical education classes. Please encourage your children to follow this directive and take responsibility for their property. Thank you for your cooperation and help in maintaining a healthy school environment.

The mission of the City School District of Albany is to educate and nurture all students to be responsible citizens, critical thinkers and lifelong learners to successfully compete in the global community by providing an academically rigorous and safe environment in partnership with parents, students and the community. The district serves approximately 8,400 students in 16 elementary, middle and high schools. In addition to neighborhood schools, the district includes several magnet schools and programs, as well as other innovative academic opportunities for students.
