Giffen educator among area's best

ALBANY, N.Y. (January 20, 2010) Giffen Memorial Elementary School fourth-grade teacher Thomas Faulkner has been named a “Top Teacher” in the Capital Region by WNYT/TV-13.

 

“The excitement on his face says it all,” education reporter and anchor Elaine Houston says in her story about Mr. Faulkner.

 

Mr. Faulkner, 40, began teaching at Giffen in 2000.

 

“I didn’t become a teacher to have a job. I became a teacher to have a career,” Mr. Faulkner says. “I love coming to work.”

The mission of the City School District of Albany is to educate and nurture all students to be responsible citizens, critical thinkers and lifelong learners to successfully compete in the global community by providing an academically rigorous and safe environment in partnership with parents, students and the community.
