Philip Livingston Magnet Academy student

honored in county-wide ceremony

ALBANY, N.Y. (June 9, 2009) -- On June 3, Philip Livingston Magnet Academy eighth grader Sanaya Arrington received the 2009 Artistic Expression – Middle School Award from the County of Albany Department for Children, Youth and Families Youth Bureau (D.C.Y.F.).

The prestigious award ceremony, which was held in the Cahill Room in the Albany County Office Building, featured speeches from County Executive Michael G. Breslin and representatives from D.C.Y.F., M&T Bank, and CBS 6.

The Youth Recognition Awards Program was created to honor youth for academic achievement, personal growth, and contributions to the community.

The City School District of Albany serves approximately 8,400 students in 18 elementary, middle and high schools. In addition to neighborhood schools, the district includes several magnet schools and programs, as well as other innovative academic opportunities for students. The district is more than halfway through its comprehensive facilities project to newly build and/or renovate nearly all of its elementary and middle schools. The ultimate goal of the facilities project is to provide schools with the resources necessary to help students succeed in the 21st century.
