Albany High artists' work makes regional art show

ALBANY, N.Y. (Jan. 18, 2012) -- Works by three Albany High School artists will be on display at the 2012 High School Regional Juried Art Exhibition starting Feb. 15 at the Esther Massry Gallery.

 

Their works were selected from pieces of art submitted by 20 area high schools. A total of 101 works will be displayed at the show, which runs through March 15.

 

The students and their works are:

  • Alexa Noel, Cape Cod

  • Fanta'Sha Gibbs, Untitled

  • Keschaad Tarver, Colors of Autumn

 

The Esther Massry Gallery is located in The College of Saint Rose's Massry Center for the Arts, 1002 Madison Ave. The gallery is open from 10 a.m.to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.


A reception and awards ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. March 2 at the gallery.

 

The mission of the City School District of Albany is to educate and nurture all students to be responsible citizens, critical thinkers and lifelong learners to successfully compete in the global community by providing an academically rigorous and safe environment in partnership with parents, students and the community. The district serves about 8,700 students in 15 elementary, middle and high schools. In addition to neighborhood schools, the district includes several magnet schools and programs, as well as other innovative academic opportunities for students, including four themed academies at Albany High School.
