City School District of Albany Superintendent Search
The City School District of Albany Board of
Education's search for the district's next superintendent is underway.
Capital Region BOCES is assisting the board, at no cost to the
district, in finding an experienced, visionary leader to guide the
district into the future. Working in partnership with the community to
identify the best candidates, the board will conduct a national search
through the late winter and early spring, and anticipates an appointment
during the summer.
We invite you to join us in making this critical decision for our school
district and our community. Scroll down for complete information,
updates and timelines regarding the search.
Community input
The Board of Education is inviting all community members to participate
in the search through six public forums that were held in late January
and early February and
a survey designed to help the board understand what the community is
looking for in its next school leader. All Albany parents,
residents, staff and students are invited to participate
to tell us what is most
important to you about the district and our next superintendent.
The survey will available
online through the end of February
and also is available at all Albany Public Library locations and at each
district school. All responses
will remain anonymous and the board will use that data to guide its
search.
What's next?
Once feedback is collected through the public forums and
survey responses, the
board will make all responses publicly available in this section of this site. The board will use the data to guide its
search, which will include national advertising that will be conducted
in March and April. Three rounds of interviews with the top candidates
are planned in May and June, including an opportunity for teams of
community and staff representatives to meet with the semifinalists
selected by the board.
The search team will provide a report on the public forums and community
feedback at the Thursday, March 1 board meeting at
Albany High School, 700 Washington Ave. The meeting begins at 7 p.m.
