Homecoming, Hall of Fame weekend schedule
ALBANY, N.Y. (Oct.
11, 2012) –
It’s Homecoming and Hall of Fame weekend in the City School District of
Albany this Friday and Saturday. All are invited to participate in a
variety of events to celebrate and support our students, our graduates,
our schools and our community.
And this year you can look great doing it by customizing your own Falcon
gear. Follow the Falcon Shop logo on our
Athletics page
and the
Albany High page
on the district website, or
Albany High’s own home page.
You also can visit the Falcons Rock! shop near the Tower 2
first-floor entrance at Albany High.
The weekend’s activities kick off Friday afternoon with the annual
Albany High Homecoming pep rally in the gym beginning at 2 p.m. Several
modified, JV and varsity teams compete Friday afternoon;
visit the Athletics page
for complete schedules.
Friday evening we will celebrate
the eight members of the Hall of Fame Class of 2012
with a dinner and induction ceremony at Crossgates Banquet House
beginning at 6 p.m. If you have not already purchased tickets, they are
$45 at the door.
On Saturday, the Albany Public School Teachers' Association (APSTA)
hosts its annual Scholarship Fundraiser Golf Outing at Normanside
Country Club in Delmar.
Visit the Mark Your Calendars section
on the district home page to download a flyer with more information.
At
10 a.m. Saturday, the Albany High boys’ varsity soccer team hosts
perennial state power Newburgh Free Academy at the Plumeri Sports
Complex at Hoffman Park. At 11 a.m., the 2012 Hall of Fame inductees
will be honored with the Wall of Fame ceremony at Albany High.
The Homecoming parade steps off at noon from Albany High’s Washington
Avenue parking lot, with the Albany Marching Falcons leading the way.
The Homecoming football game against Guilderland kicks off at 1 p.m. on
the Charles I. Leigh Sr. Football Field at Bleecker Stadium. The 2012
Homecoming king and queen will be crowned at halftime.
The halftime ceremony also will include a performance by the Albany High
cheerleading team, and recognition of this year’s Hall of Fame inductees
and members of Albany High’s Class of 1962, who are celebrating their 50th
reunion this weekend.
The annual Homecoming dance is Saturday at 7 p.m. at Albany High.
We hope you’ll be able to join us for some of these fun activities. Go
