The Giffen Memorial Elementary School community came together Sept. 12
for a ribbon-cutting ceremony that marked completion of a project to
renovate the 49-year old building. Giffen is the 11th building finished
in the district's sweeping effort to rebuild or renovate all its
elementary and middle schools.
On hand for the fanfare were the school
chorus, Albany Mayor Gerald D. Jennings, Albany County Executive Michael
Breslin, former school superintendent Lonnie Palmer and several members
of the City School District of Albany Board of Education.
