The Academy of Engineering's eighth-grade summer camp
designed and built a bridge to the community garden
at Stephen and Harriet Myers Middle School between July
13-15. On the left, Molly Ketterer, left, and Katie Myers
measure boards to be cut in the early stages of
construction. On the right, from the left, Raymond Gemmill, Billy
McTague, Zechariah Mergel and teacher Jordan Vener
grapple with the footing of the bridge. The Academy summer
camp gave seventh- and eighth-grade students an
opportunity to sample high-tech disciplines like mag-lev techno-
logy, rocket aeronautics, robotics and more, giving them
a taste of what's offered at the Academy of Engineering
at Albany High School.
