The
streak is over for the Albany High School
football team.
Sophomore Tysheem Morris
scored two touchdowns Saturday, Oct. 20 to help
the Falcons to their first win since late in the
2007 season,
a 24-0 victory over South Glens Falls.
Originally scheduled for the previous night at
Bleecker Stadium, the game was postponed due to
heavy rain and moved to Schenectady High School
because of poor field conditions at Bleecker.
The start of the game then was delayed more than
an hour because of another deluge. When the game
finally began, junior Chris Wolcott also threw
for one score and ran for another to spark the
long-awaited win, and senior Johnny Randolph
added an electrifying 61-yard scoring run in the
the third quarter that gave the Falcons an 18-0
lead and put the game out of reach.
The Falcons doused coach Jon
McClement and assistant coach James Dimideo with
ice water and Gatorade as the final seconds
ticked off. "It's a great day to be
a Falcon!" junior Immanuel Sturdivant said in
the post-game celebration. The Falcons had lost
44 consecutive games, the longest active streak
in the state until their breakthrough victory. Congratulations to coach
McClement and the Falcons on a well-deserved
win!

Falcons' opening drive (above left). On the same drive,
quarter-
back Chris Wolcott and the offense get set to run a
play (above right).

South Glens Falls stopped Tysheem Morris for no gain
on third-and-goal on the Falcons' opening drive (above
left), but Chris Wolcott rolled left on
fourth down and ran it in from the 6-yard-line (above right) to
give the Falcons
a 6-0 lead, their first lead of the season.

Chris Wolcott unloads a 7-yard touchdown pass to
Tysheem Morris to give the Falcons a 12-0 lead in the second
quarter (above left). Above right, Morris
looks for room to run around the left side later in the second.

After Johnny Randolph's electrifying 61-yard run made it 18-0 in the
third quarter -- Randolph also had a 97-yard
TD run negated by a penalty in the third -- the offense gets ready to
punch it in for the final score in the fourth
quarter (above left). Above right, coach Jon McClement chills
out following a celebratory Gatordade bath as the
final seconds tick off in the Falcons' long-awaited win.

After the final horn, the celebration begins!
