The City School District of Albany is
committed to providing students with safe learning environments. As
educators, we know that children need to feel secure in our schools in
order to learn and grow.
Our
official Student Conduct and Discipline policy ensures that effective
and consistent discipline is at work in our schools. In addition to our
security personnel, the proposed 2005-06 budget includes funding for a
Safe Schools Coordinator. The Safe Schools Coordinator will oversee the
Albany Public Schools' efforts to keep students safe, including our
anti-bullying and gang prevention initiatives.
We also are carefully coordinating our security efforts
with community leaders. By working closely with the Albany Police
Department, the mayor, the district attorney--and most importantly,
parents--Albany's children will continue to be safe in our schools.
