The City School District of Albany is deeply concerned by the attempted
abduction of an Albany teen Thursday, June 9, as well as the unsolved
murder of Gretchen Perham. The district's responsibility is to keep our
students safe while they are in our schools. We rely on the Mayor and
the Albany Police Department to keep Albany's children and teens safe on
Albany's streets. The City School District of Albany is cooperating
fully with the Albany Police Department and providing whatever
assistance it can to the ongoing investigation into these incidents.
Thursday afternoon, the
district notified parents of the attempted abduction on Myrtle Avenue.
We ask that anyone who knows anything about what happened to either of
these young women contact the Albany Police Department immediately.
