additional arts courses, provide an awareness and
exploration of opportunities for further study at
post-secondary sites.

that are considered by the New York State Education
Department to be some of the best in the state.
Partnerships with area business, industry, colleges, and

academics, life skills, and pre-vocational skills. The
academic components include functional and survival
skills reading and consumer math. The life skills
program focuses on community exploration and daily
living skills. Finally, the pre-vocational component
involves classes and jobs at Abrookin and the Community
Internship Program.
Teenage Mothers Program (TAM)
For more than 30 years, TAM has provided an
alternative learning environment for pregnant school-age
residents. The objectives of the program are to provide
students with a quality education, delivered in a
one-on-one style to enable students to continue with
courses they have been assigned in their home school.
Abrookin Alternative Education
Extended Day Program
Monday through Thursday, 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. This
program is designed for students with discipline
problems, poor attendance and the potential to drop out
of school. The Extended Day Program is highly structured
and seeks to improve students' attitudes toward learning
and to give them a sense of increased responsibility for
their education.
