About Delaware
Community School Delaware
Community
School moved into a brand-new, state-of-the-art building
on the original site of School 18 in January 2007. In a
new building, Delaware Community School will continue School 18’s fine
tradition of serving as a neighborhood school with
community at its heart.
The new school features space
for parent and community groups to meet. Some other new
features include modern art and music rooms, a state-of-the-art
library/media center, a cafetorium
and a larger gymnasium. The 55,000-square-foot building
serves approximately 450
students in Pre-K through Grade 5.
Our school's mission is to provide an environment in which students
can achieve their academic potential through the
development of self-confidence, self-discipline and
creativity.
Delaware
Community School is the new, permanent home of the
Dual
Language Program, which instructs enrolled students
in English and Spanish with the goal of students
becoming bilingual and bi-literate. While the program is
akin to a “school within a school,” its presence
provides valuable opportunities for multicultural
awareness for all students at Delaware Community School.
