The 'new' William S. Hackett Middle School

August 2008

William S. Hackett Middle School returned home to start the 2008-09 school year following a complete renovation of the 82-year-old building at 45 Delaware Ave. The updated school maintains many of the classic architectural elements of Marcus T. Reynolds' original design and blends an array of new elements into a facility that is the jewel of the City School District of Albany's facilities project to rebuild or renovate each of its elementary and middle schools.

All classrooms have been renovated and fully updated.

The new library/media center on the ground floor is twice the size of the previous library.

The gym and swimming pool both received much-needed TLC.

Showers and locker rooms were completely redone.

The new cafeteria on the basement floor is in the location where shop class used to be taught.
