Goal 1
Meet or exceed the
Adequate Annual Progress targets established by the New
York State Education Department.
- Incorporate
Connected Math from Prentice Hall as a supplement to
the math program.
- Work closely with
the math faculty to coordinate their curricula to
provide a unified, comprehensive program to
students.
- Continue the
"Writing Across the Curriculum" program.
- Redesign F-Block
(now A-Block) to make it a more supportive academic
experience. Coordinate the development of 50
stand-alone lessons in both math and English
Language Arts (ELA) to be used by A-Block teachers
throughout the year.
- Redesign the Reading
Program to more closely align with activities in
core classes.
Goal 2
Reduce the suspension rate by 10%.
- Create alternative
half teams similar to the Essential Schools concept
at Albany High.
- Use the in-school
suspension program as an alternative to
out-of-school suspension.
- Add a character
education component to programs that address deviant
behavior.
Goal 3
Increase the attendance rate by 10%.
- Initiate a
recognition program for perfect attendance.
- Improve and expand
the extended day programs (with the City of Albany
and the YMCA) and link participation to attendance.
- Increase contact
with parents whose children have a pattern of
absenteeism.
- Work closely with
Mr. Bernardi (the attendance teacher) in dealing
with students who are at risk because of poor
attendance.
Goal 4
Decrease the tardiness rate by 10%.
- Improve and expand
the extended day programs (with the City of Albany
and the YMCA) and link participation to punctuality.
- Strengthen the
after-school detention program.
- Strengthen the
Saturday morning detention program.
