The study of English Language Arts is focused on developing students as readers, writers, speakers, listeners and thinkers who can capably comprehend and analyze diverse texts, construct effective arguments, conduct research using valid and reliable sources, and participate powerfully in academic discourse with diverse partners to build on the ideas of others and express their own clearly and persuasively. The primary purpose of English Language Arts is to ensure our students are equipped with the diverse literacy skills demanded by today’s global society in order to define and steer their own paths to lifelong success.
