Falcon standout commits to Siena basketball
ALBANY, N.Y. (July 2, 2019) -- Albany
High School upcoming senior Ahniysha “Baby” Jackson, who averaged 18.2
points a game last winter, made a verbal commitment to play basketball
at NCAA Division 1 Siena College for the 2020-2021 season.
Jackson is a shooting guard for the Lady Falcons and under her
court prowess during the 2018-19 season, the team rose as high as No. 9
in the state rankings. Jackson also helped the team to a 19-3 record and
co-championship in the Suburban Council Grey Division.
“We owe much of our recent success to Ahniysha. I’m incredibly
proud of this accomplishment and now she can finish her Falcon career
without the distraction of the recruiting process,” said coach Decky
Lawson, who has coached Jackson since she was a third-grader.
Jackson started on the varsity team as an eighth-grader and this
season she drained more than 41 3-pointers last season. She averaged
four rebounds, three steals and three assists a game.
