Teacher and Principal Evaluation System
All teachers and principals will continue to be evaluated pursuant to the district’s approved APPR plan.
The district has an APPR Committee that includes the president of the Albany Public School Teachers Association, peer assistance review coaches, evaluators and Cabinet members. This committee meets monthly and will continue to do so to review any necessary changes to the approved plan and submit any changes to the APPR portal.
Certification, Incidental Teaching and Substitute Teaching
All teachers will hold valid and appropriate certificates for teaching assignments, except where otherwise allowable under the commissioner’s regulations (e.g., incidental teaching) or education law.
The district’s Human Resources Division is responsible for monitoring certification and licensure requirements for individuals within the organization as well as new hires. Communication is provided to district administrators when new hires are on-boarded so they may appropriately place individuals based on their certification and licensure.
