Construction internships, apprenticeships sought

Teacher and two students measure a board

Attention construction and construction-related businesses: Are you looking for motivated workers for internships or apprenticeships? Would you be willing to host a job shadow experience for a student exploring career opportunities in the field of construction?

The Construction Technology class at Albany High School is looking to build partnerships with local construction and construction-related businesses that would like to provide a high-school student with a hands-on learning experience. Students would be allowed to learn from you and build their interest in the construction trade, and you would have an opportunity to create your own pipeline of qualified workers.

Teachers would match a business with a student with a corresponding interest and set of skills. Hours and days would be flexible and based on the needs of your business and each student’s individual circumstances.

If you are interested, please email work-based learning coordinator Lindsay Simmons at lsimmons@albany.k12.ny.us or construction teacher Art Erbe at aerbe@albany.k12.ny.us.
