Each year, students in grades 7-12 have the opportunity to participate in the City School District of Albany’s athletic programs.

The district offers athletic competition in 12 female sports on 29 teams and in 12 male sports on 31 teams. Each team is coached by certified athletic coaches.

Albany is a member of the 15-team Suburban Council. The exceptions are football and indoor track. In football, Albany High competes in the Class A Division this year. In indoor track, the Falcons compete in Division I.

Go Falcons!

Modified teams

At the modified level (grades 7-8), we offer district-wide teams in all sports except basketball and girls' volleyball. In modified basketball, each middle school offers its own teams for girls and boys. In modified girls' volleyball, there are teams at Hackett and Myers (O'Neal students are eligible to compete on the Hackett team).

All other modified athletic teams practice and play at Myers or Albany High depending on the sport and season. See below for a breakdown of teams and the locations. The district provides transportation to each practice location; students and families are responsible for their own transportation home after practices and games.

For those students in grades 7-8, there is an interscholastic modified program. It includes the following sports:
