Surisawa snags Section 2 title for second time

Congratulations to two-time Section 2 tennis singles champion Masami Surisawa!

The Albany High School senior captured his second straight sectional title Saturday afternoon with an impressive 6-1, 6-3 victory in the championship match at Schenectady's Central Park. The win pushed Masami's season record to an amazing 21-0.

Now it's off to states for the third year in a row. They will be held at the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing. The first round singles match is cheduled to begin at 8 a.m. on May 31.

In 2023, Surisawa won his first-round match 6-0, 6-0. He lost in the second round (6-2, 6-1) to the Section 1 champion who ultimately placed fifth in the state.
