Our Falcons soared to incredible new heights tonight, winning the Section 2 Class A flag football championship title!
After a fantastic regular season and a stellar playoff run, our Falcons kept their eye on the prize, thrilling fans with a 38-31 win against Shenendehowa at the championship game on Friday, May 23.
It was an exhilarating back-and-forth game, with our Falcons flying ahead with a strong 25-0 lead during the first half. Shenendehowa was able to close the gap, bringing the score to 25-25 during the second half.
When faced with the tie, our Falcons did not falter, pushing through to finish the night with a solid victory. Quarterback Narai Danzy emphasized the importance of staying in a positive state of mind when you start to lose your lead.
"You've got to stay focused. You can't really get into your head a lot. If you get into your head, everything will mess up," Danzy stated.
Senior Azera Gates had the final pass deflection of the game, showing strong defensive skills as the Falcons secured their victory. Postgame, Gates shared how meaningful it was to win the title championship this year, especially after landing one win short of a championship in last year's Section 2 flag football playoffs.
"Last year we lost, but this year we came back determined to win this one," Gates noted.
Our Falcons' determination paid off, and we are incredibly proud of their well-deserved championship title win! It is the culmination of hard work, grit, tenacity and heart.
Congratulations to the entire team, Coach Swann and Coach Wilmer "Decky" Lawson for earning this prestigious title.
Go Falcons!
