City School District of Albany

Indoor percussion home show is Feb. 11

February 11

12:30 pm

Seniors dominate the varsity Albany Indoor Percussion Ensemble this year, and they hope their collective experience as a group pays off when they compete Feb. 11 at their home show at Albany High School.

The home show is open to the community and will feature City School District of Albany students and competitors from a dozen other schools. Performances start at 12:30 p.m. Tickets are $8 each, with group deals available. Email albanyindoorpercussionensemble@gmail.com for more information.

Albany Indoor Percussion Ensemble is made up of 44 students in grades 6-12 who simultaneously play a range of percussion instruments, march, dance and perform theater. It’s split into junior varsity and varsity levels, with advanced students playing varsity.

The ensemble competes in the New York State Percussion Circuit under the direction of Mark Sanford, who also serves as the percussion coach for the Albany Marching Falcons. At the home show, Albany High will host percussion teams from a dozen schools around the state.
