Booster Club 5K: Great day to be a Falcon

Two Albany High School girls smile before the start of the Falcon 5K race.

The weather was gorgeous and Falcon pride in high gear on Sunday during the Albany Booster Club’s annual Falcon 5K and Fun Run/Walk in Washington Park.

It was the biggest turnout in the seven years of the event’s existence, with more than 500 taking part.

Members of Albany High School’s Junior ROTC opened the event with a presentation of the colors, and the Albanettes and Troubadours sang the national anthem. Superintendent Kaweeda Adams and Albany County Executive Dan McCoy sounded the air horns that started the 5K, and the race was on. Find out the results here.

The Albany High Jazz Ensemble provided great tunes for runners and bystanders throughout the event. Albany High cheerleaders were on hand to support the runners and walkers, and the Albany High Multicultural Club led a dance-off between the 5K and the Fun Run/Walk.

What a great day to be a Falcon!
