Reminders for new parent-teacher conference days this week

The City School District of Albany is implementing the new expanded process for parent-teacher conferences this week.

Parents and guardians will have opportunities to meet with teachers on Thursday from 4-7 p.m., and on Friday from 8-11 a.m.

This is an important change from our past practice of holding parent-teacher conferences on one day during the week of Thanksgiving. Holding parent-teacher meetings at this time of the fall provides an opportunity to better support students earlier in the school year. We also hope that families will enjoy the added flexibility of evening hours as a new option.

If you have not yet had an opportunity to make an appointment to meet with your teacher this week, please do so at your first opportunity. These meetings are critical pieces in the home-school relationship that supports our students’ academic and personal success.

Please note that all district schools and offices will be closed Wednesday, Nov. 23. We also have added a second opportunity for parent-teacher meetings in February – with evening hours included on Feb. 9 as well.

After-school updates for this Thursday

For this Thursday’s parent-teacher conferences, after-school programs will operate on their regular schedule at our elementary schools. Parents and guardians with elementary students who participate in specific clubs after school should check with their principal about that schedule in advance.

There will be no after-school programs or clubs for middle school and high school students Thursday. Athletic activities will continue on their regular schedule.

Friday schedule

All students will have a full day off Friday to accommodate the parent-teacher conference schedules in the morning, and professional development for district employees in the afternoon.
