Falcon artist wins cash prize

A student who received a scholarship for art studies poses with her teachers.

Albany High School senior Lavender-Sanaa Scott is among several area students that the Colonie Art League is recognizing as the organization celebrates 50 years of promoting visual arts in the Capital Region.

Lavender-Sanaa was nominated by the Albany High School Art Department based on her academic performance, artistic talent and ability, and commitment to continue art studies at the university level. She plans to attend Hudson Valley Community College next year and then transfer to SUNY Purchase to study Art Education.

The Colonie Art League is presenting her with a $500 stipend.

The art league also is recognizing students from Shaker, South Colonie, Schenectady and Troy high schools.

Congratulations to Lavender-Sanaa from everyone in the City School District of Albany, especially guiding teachers Krissy Monahan, Thea Resila and Ashleigh Johns.
