Junior ROTC cleans up at regional contest

Junior ROTC cadent accepts first place trophy

The Albany High School Henry Johnson Battalion Junior ROTC nailed Saturday’s 2nd Bridge Raiders competition at Fort Dix, NJ, walking away with 11 trophies, nine of them for first place.

The grueling outdoor competition tests the self-discipline, physical stamina and teamwork skills of Junior ROTC cadets from around the Northeastern United States. To prepare, our Falcon cadets practiced four days a week before school for the past several months. In addition, they had to have 90% percent attendance and be passing all their classes to be eligible to compete.

Their hard work paid off: Their performance at Fort Dix earned them a spot at the national competition in Fort Knox, KY in November.

Congratulations to the cadets and a special shoutout to First Sgt. Allan Reome, their adviser!
