CDTA bus information for the new school year

A student getting off a CDTA bus at school

Information about CDTA tripper routes and schedules for the upcoming school year is now available in our Transportation section

Scroll down to the “CDTA tripper info” tab to find links to route brochures for each school along with street-by-street route descriptions for each tripper bus.

Once the school year begins Sept. 7-8, eligible CDTA students will have their student ID activated to use as their bus swiper card. For the first two weeks of school (through Friday, Sept. 22), all students can ride for free without an activated pass. Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 26, only those students with activated swiper ID cards will be allowed to ride for free.

In the early days of the school year, it’s also a good idea for students waiting at their bus stop to give a wave to the driver as they see their CDTA bus approaching. The drivers are learning the new routes and stops as well.

First Student transportation

For families whose students will ride First Student yellow buses this school year, watch for a letter in the mail from the Transportation Department in the middle of next week with information about your bus route, and pickup and drop-off locations.

As a reminder, you can download our new Traversa Ride 360 GPS bus tracking app (scroll down on the Transportation home page to find that tab). Ride 360 will allow you to monitor your bus location in real time each day. You can download the Ride 360 app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. It takes just a couple of minutes to sign up.

Your yellow bus information may change early in the school year as new students are registered for transportation and assigned to routes. The Ride 360 app will update daily with your student’s current bus information, so we recommend that you log in to the app daily, especially early in the year, to make sure you are loading the most current information for your student.

For more information about First Student updates for the new year, you can check out this story from Aug. 8.
